I am in support 100% that the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area is in serious need of reform. After working there for over 13 years and attending as a club kids since I was 10 years old, even I had to walk away. It hurts me to witness that it has moved so far away from the mission and the principles on which it was founded. For those who are unaware, this is the mission of the Boys & Girls Club- "To inspire and enable ALL YOUNG PEOPLE, especially THOSE WHO NEED US MOST IN THE BELLPORT AREA and increasingly from the South Shore, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens." My last two years I was not a part of the solution because I did not speak up once things started shifting because I falsely believed the leadership was doing what was best for the youth and based on the amount of youth currently occupying the club, clearly that is not the case- results speak for themselves. So many great people who represented what the BGC stands for are no longer affiliated with the club, why? There needs to be more transparency, accountability and effort among the leadership. How can you inspire youth to become the best versions of themselves if you do not give them access to opportunities or programs that will help them thrive in reality, not just on paper? Taking the time to listen to the needs of the people who the BGC was designed to serve is FREE. If you truly want to positively impact the youth and the community, start there. Forget the egos, focus on the facts. Fact- there has been a huge decrease in the amount of youth (SACC kids and Teens) who attend the Boys & Girls Club (pre-Covid). Fact- there has been a very high turnover in staff which leads to inconsistency in the lives of our youth. Fact-There are very few programs for our club members to participate in. Fact- there aren't enough qualified staff who actually care, working at the club. Fact- there is little to no trust between the club and the

These conditions unfortunately effect a large majority of people! Both male and females! Mothers and fathers who need to survive and prepare for the outside prejudiced conditions!

I do believe the building has gone completely down hill since Miss T and Mr Powell were no longer there. I use to be a member of the connection group which was ran by Miss T and we as a group had some really good discussions and ideas to do in the community. Although some staff didn't think that what we were advocating for made sense but they had they own hidden agenda. Mr. Powell is a very dedicated and caring man who loves sports especially basketball. When the gym was finished I remember the joy he had on his face and the tears that streamed down because it was a dream that he couldn't believe came to life. What the higher ups done to him was horrible and the ending result is a building that doesn't care for the community or the children just to get your money. I myself had a few incidents where I would pay for my children membership fees and there weekly dues and money would mysteriously be missing. And this has happened not just to me but other individuals as well on multiple occasions, leaving myself to have to pay extra money just so my kids can attend. Before I decided not to bring my children back I witnessed a change in staff that majority of the time is out of the building then in the building and the atmosphere just seem cold and not comforting. So I agree we may not can not get Miss T or Mr. Powell back but a change is definitely needed NOW!!!

Mr Powell amongst others made changes and helped the community just for the remodeling of the Boys&Girls for the kids to have a positive outlet/safe zone. If New management isn’t for the kids and the community then new management is NEEDED!

The boys and girls club was a home away from home like many others. the people in charge no longer care and it shows. I used to be proud to be a member and to be apart of the change. Now I don't want anything to do with it ! Sucks because the community deserves better !

I believe the Boys and girls club has changed tremendously. They need to run more programs for the youth so they can stay busy in a positive way.

We can’t let any institution in the community not function to its full potential! Our lives and the kids are too precious! Let’s make the boys n girls a community resource not another gatekeeper.

The boys and girls club has went down hill since Tisha and the people who started the new building left... I think employees should live in this community to work there
