Should Adam Lambert be removed from the performance line up, the organisers (and by extension Singapore as a country) is sending the message that it is acceptable to openly discriminate a person who does not conform to our society's gender norms. I believe the personal bias based on a performer's sexual orientation should not dictate the whether or he can perform in Singapore. Mediacorp can censor his performance if needed to adhere to family-oriented programme guidelines, but removing Adam Lambert from the performance lineup completely will merely show how narrow-minded and prejudiced our society is.

The organization trying to tear down Lambert's 2016 New Year performance are hiding their hate toward LGBT behind false accusations that he is not "family friendly." Anyone who has observed Lambert over the years can see he is a fine performer with good intentions and a passion to explore ideas through his art. He is perfectly capable of giving a family-friendly performance and only intends to promote the positive values of understanding, self-acceptance, freedom, and love. To cancel Lambert's performance would be a gross act of discrimination. If Singapore wants to show its citizens and the rest of the world that it is a place of good values, Singapore should do what is right and promote the values of liberty and love, not hate and suppression.
