I don't see why people must be homophobic to such an extent and I support Adam Lambert for who he is

Singaporeans should loosen up ... We live in a multi- cultural country ... We should also learn to live with multi- sexual orientation people ... That will make us a more gracious society.

Having Adam Lambert usher in the New Year would be a great honor to Singapore, especially when previous countdown years haven't been very good. I do not approve of his sexual actions on stage, but I believe he'll be able to not do so in this performance in Singapore, as we are still quite a conservative country, as compared to the US. Inappropriate scenes should also be censored to be family-safe, & hence, I trust in Mediacorp to recognize the decency of the performance. For people who do not support Adam performing in Singapore, I believe you have a choice as to not to go, & you do not have to be against a singer based on their sexual orientation. Hence, if Adam is willing to decrease his sexual actions on stage, & just sing, I support him ushering us to a good start of 2016.

I do not get how his sexual orientation will affect our golden jubilee celebration. He is an awesome singer and a great person. I seriously think there is no reason to go against him performing when he did not do anything which makes him unworthy of performing for us. To have someone performing for us should be an honour.

I am 91 years old and Adam Lambert is a lovely young man who is someone to look up too. He is someone who has the best interest of all at heart. Please allow him to sing and spread his light, we need it more now than ever.

Adam Lambert is amazing talented performer and a wonderful person. Singapore was lucky to celebrate the New year together with him. Fans come to concerts of Adam from all over the world. Adam is well trained, he knows how to conduct themselves properly. Adam respects the culture of countries in which acts. If I have the opportunity, I will come to Singapore to celebrate the New year together with Adam.

In all honesty, if the other petition simply focused on the more radical performance style of Lambert, I would have agreed. However, this sentence got me: "In addition, a simple online search would reveal that he is well-known for his active promotion of a highly sexualized lifestyle and LGBT rights, both of which are contrary to mainstream Singaporean values." Mainstream Singaporean values? Or is it just another phrase for how homophobic and backwards some of our fellow countrymen can be?Also, how fragile minded can bigots get, if they actually believe that a gay singer performing onstage is going to ruin families and go against the so called sanctity of marriage? So yeah, let Adam Lambert come and sing, and let's see if our nation's 'moral fibre' is strong enough to withstand that.
