I do not want to let a bunch of narrow-minded religious bigots dictate which talented stars I can see in Countdown 2016. If Singapore wants to be a hub of creativity and talent, she should embrace diversity.

Banning someone to perform on the ground of having a controversial performance. We can always rectify it with censorship and certain media regulation. If calling for the ban because of someone sexuality I think that is just unacceptable. This persepective of heteronormativity and treating homosexuality as controversial and unbecoming is really really a step back for Singapore. And here I thought people are increasingly embracing gender fluidity and the plurality of sexuality. What makes people think that heterosexuality is the normal natural thing and anything deviating from it is deemed unnatural? Because religion said so? Being it has been that way for centuries? That seems like a very very weak justification. Calling someone to be taken out just because of his sexuality or a couple of controversial antics on television shows how narrow-minded those who called for the petition. At this point I want to cordially invite Adam Lambert over to Singapore to celebrate with us and usher in 2016!

The conservative right in Singapore do not get to determine what Singaporean values are. Our country was built on tolerance. We live side by side with people of different races and cultures. The sexual orientation of one person should be of not concern to anyone else.
If they think being gay and gyrating on stage means eternal damnation, then I urge them to spare themselves from judgement and NOT WATCH the NYD celebration.
We all have things we like and dislike but we have the decency not to impose our preferences, especially those borne out of prejudice, onto the rest of society.
They do NOT speak for the rest of us. Welcome Adam!

In this modern era, there's no way to stop talented musicians on stage be they straight or gay. So much for pledging to build a democratic society
based on justice and equality. How is this equality?

I don't listen to Adam Lambert, but I only know a singer's job is to sing. On the stage, a singer is a singer, regardless or how old or young or ugly or pretty or whether his sexual orientation pleases or annoys you. In fact this is a private deal between the organiser and the singer. Who are we to interfere? No one gets hurt whether he comes to Singapore or not. I sign this petition not because I like/hate him but because sexual orientation really should not be a criteria for hiring someone.

I consider myself a morally right person, and I won't allow the so-called 'moral majority' to lobby on my behalf. Morally, I believe everyone has the right to live life as they wish, as long as they do no physical harm to the people a around them. So climb down your high horse, go out and get a life. There are bigger things to agonise about than your fear of progress and change.

Thank you for Adam Lambert letting me think more about human equity, and knowing the importance of it. Because of him, I bring positive thoughts and be more kind when face the different ideas, even the haters being rude and offensive. So please, if someone has a different idea, please remember that it's not about you are wrong or right, but about human equity, and least try to respect others instead of being so aggressive. : )
