It is crucial that any new rules make it easy for the STR business to continue. No abusive fees and possibly gradfathering in existing STRs with respect to density requirements. There should be no restrictions on stay length or quantity per month.

The County NEEDS a vacation rental ordinance now. The practice of home sharing is common throughout the United States and Europe. It is a valuable, legitimate and welcome practice It is wrong to leave it in legislative limbo while collecting transient occupancy taxes. Most transient occupancy is for three days. Guests are not candidates for hotels or motels. They often bring families with small children. Let's ensure that we legalize and regulate a practice that is already in full swing.

I wish to rent out my home occasionally, but have be stalled because of the unreasonable ordinance for rentals. By generating rental income, we will be able to keep our lovely home. I want to do everything on the up-and-up, and pay the TOT taxes, in order to bring more revenue into the city of Monterey.

We want a responsible, reasonable vacation rental ordinance in Monterey County. We are owners at Monterey Dunes Colony for 40 years and need some rental flexibility in order to keep our home!

In my opinion granting special treatment to hotels and motels is a clear violation of the 14th Admentment to the U.S. Contitution.
