Democracy needs to be seen within the party and so the rank & file members must have a say in Senate preselection. Every Batman State Conference delegate must account for their attendance at Conference and if they voted for the rule change.

Democracy begins at home. The rule change to allow rank & file members to have their say in Senate preselections must not be rejected again. Every Batman State Conference delegate s/be quizzed afterwards to establish whether they attended the debate at Conference and if they voted for the rule change.

For the sake of representative democracy, vote at conference for universal suffrage at senate preselection.
Member wishes first?
That will be a real reform

The Objectives within the Australian Labor Party Victorian Branch Rules make it clear we are a democratic socialist party. There has never been a more important time to be seen as such before the Membership and the Australian people.

I support this change to give ordinary ALP members in Victoria a direct say in Senate preselections. It's a vital reform for party democracy and for increasing the calibre of Senate candidates. 33 branches have already signed a petition organised by Open Labor, Independents and Local Labor calling for this change.

I so wish ALP members had a direct say in preselection of Victorian Senate candidates. It is so undemocratic not to have this - it's our Party too!
