Why is the public willing to pay extra for 3D content at the cinema yet the latest UHD Blu Ray and HDMI specifications do NOT include nor make provisions to add it later (unlikely, but perhaps with a firmware update to the player).

4K movies WITH 3D is what is shown at the cinema and has been very successful so why can't we, the purchasers of Blu Ray, have the 4K/3D option available to us?

Despite the bad press about no one wanting 3D at their home and its discontinuation by Visio, Disney, and others, I see much interest when searching the web and the fact that someone would pay extra for 3D at the movies says it all. In fact, Disney had once committed to bringing 3D to all of their animations (and they do at the theater) but has since let us fans of 3D down and now only offers it in other countries and will probably phase out 3D home video. I sincerely believe there is tremendous interest in 3D and it needs to be given much more of a chance before it is decided that the public does NOT want it at home which I disagree with.

THERE IS STILL MUCH INTEREST IN KEEPING 3D ALIVE!

Adding 3D to 4K UHD specification would make the 4K EXPERIENCE EVEN MORE IMMERSIVE. This petition to the Blu Ray Disc Association (whom sets the standards) would clearly show them. All the major movie companies are members so through the BDA, it will demonstrate to THEM that WE WANT THIS as an option when purchasing discs!!

Please sign this petition to amend the Blu Ray 4K specification to add 3D content. This will make it clear to the home entertainment industry (Warner, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Disney Home Video) that we, the audience, want the option of purchasing movies in 4K 3D to watch at home just like they were shown at the cinema!!

As a side note, perhaps 3D could be added onto the same physical blu ray disc and the user just selects 2D or 3D when viewing. THAT would be ideal vs. multiple versions of the same movie.
