I don't believe the traveller way of life is viable in a civilised society but if an apology keeps the ruffians from rioting, I shall sign this petition

Time to undo a wrong that has caused so much suffering to a section of our own people.

We can't celebrate one equality while at the same time denying other inequalities.

I was raised by my parents to have the greatest respect for the travelling community. We lived in poor conditions just outside of Carlow on the Ballickmoyler Road. There were 10 of us in a tiny 3 bedroomed cottage. But my parents always welcomed tavelliers into the house and made sure we all knew they were good folk. In all honesty, I have no traveller friends from my past and I live In the states at present, but I would like to give back them now and in the future for all the wrongs that were done and continued to be done against them

The Traveller community reserve a lot more than just an apology. Until Irish society learns to treat our own as equals and give them the respect due every person we have no hope if getting to grips with racism and xenophobia.

Like the Australian aboriginals s d the natives of North America travellers have always been treated by the Irish government as a minority that needed to be eradicated. Hopefully some day that will end
