It's absurd that I'm signing a traveller ethnicity petition yet this system does not allow me to use my own authentic name with accents.. very poor ipetitions - not acceptable or impressive.

Ireland's mistreatment of Travellers continues to stand as a blot on the nation's conscience and international standing. It is long overdue that Ireland recognize and respect the dignity and equality of ALL its citizens equally, both settled and Traveller.

Until Traveller lives matter equally, until Traveller history and culture are valued equally, our society can't claim to place value on equality.

I demand the Irish state apologise to Travellers for historic injustice and discrimination.

The Irish Travellers have made a profound contribution to the cultural heritage and diversity of this state. It is long since time that the state recognised their contribution by formally acknowledging their distinct ethnic status. Harry Bradley, TG4 Traditional Musician of the Year 2014.

Travellers are an ethnic minority group in Ireland and should be officially recognised as such. This is already the case in Britain and in Northern Ireland.

The government also need to recognise Travellers as a distinct ethnic minority. This should of happened a long time ago following on from the recommendations from the European Union, the government has been failing members of The Travelling community for years through many different types of legislation and policies that directly impacts on their lives.

Forced settlement has never worked. True travellers are a discinct ethnic group and should be given long overdue recognition. C'mon Irish Government!! It's time.
