We, the Irish Travellers & natives of our beautiful country request formal apology from our Irish State.

We, the Irish Travellers, natives of our beautiful country, Ireland, call on our politicians and political parties to issues a formal apology to us, the Irish Travellers, in the name of justice, equality and diversity.
We have for generations stood, and continue to stand, in the face of injustice, discrimination, dehumanisation and racism.
Without any hatred or contempt, we request that our Irish government issues this apology to the Irish Travellers.

The path forward feels long today but we are nearing the one thousand mark. We need to reach that milestone to ensure our request carry genuine weight when we finally take it to those in power.

The Traveller community reserve a lot more than just an apology. Until Irish society learns to treat our own as equals and give them the respect due every person we have no hope if getting to grips with racism and xenophobia.
Full heartedly hope ye receive the apology. Studying social and community development has opened my eyes to the I justices and discrimination faces by soo many members of the travelling community. And is utterly appauling.
I'm Irish to the back bone. To all the people of the settled community who told me that we were not wanted in Ireland and go back to where we came from. Guess what? I'm a native of this wonderful country we call Ireland.
Ireland's mistreatment of Travellers continues to stand as a blot on the nation's conscience and international standing. It is long overdue that Ireland recognize and respect the dignity and equality of ALL its citizens equally, both settled and Traveller.
A message to the Irish Government: Let us (the Irish traveller people) not be denied any longer, the right, of our very own true and unique identity as an indigenous and distinct recognised peoples. Freedom!, for Irish Traveller people.
as a 2nd gen Irish Traveller, I fully believe that we are deserved an apology, in full from our Irish state. It is about time our culture, heritage and history of hardworking and honest people are given due respect.
Please respect the native Travellers of Eire.

Being from the southern US I'm reminded of the stories my parents told me growing up under Jim Crow when i see the treatment by the state of travellers in Ireland, and the wider acceptance of systemic and casual racism in Irish society as a whole.
