Kent and Shelley are the most loving, caring, and selfless people that DeKalb High School has ever seen. With their own 2 hands, and not much support from the school, they have changed the lives of thousands of kids. Giving them confidence in this world, giving them a family/group of life long friends, giving them memories to cherish for the remainder of their lives, and also providing skills that help to live an overal better life in a world that can be difficult. There are not 2 better people that I can think of that deserve support. We love you Kent and Shelley!

I am gladly paying it forward here as I am a parent of a student who benefitted from the butterfly effect of these educators influencing the life of one of their students to become an educator, who in turn influenced my daughter as his student in ways I can never repay. #payitforward #exponentialinfluence

DeKalb made a huge mistake...there is no replacing the Johnson's. I am very disappointed that my kids will not get the chance to be in their programs.

I am speechless. It’s hard to put in words or even a short description of the life lessons and building blocks Kent and Shelley created for so many of us. Kent and Shelley are amazing people that have touched the lives of so many. They provided a loving family through their programs that made so many of us feel loved, taught us how strong we can be on an individual level and pushed us to always strive to do better. Kent and Shelley... your hard work, dedication, and how you truly help each one of your students grow personally is irreplaceable. I’m blessed that I had your guidance, love, and support through high school. Its not about all the medals we won, or contests we lost.. but the life lessons learned though those times that others will not get to experience... because they won’t be with you. You are both irreplaceable. At the age groups you’ve taught for years the impact you create becomes life long. Your dedication is appreciated, and I only wish the best for the both of you. The life lessons I’ve learned from you both are still practiced regularly... because practice makes permanent. <3

I am proof of your legacy, in that your impact on me as a mentor comes through one of your former students. I am so thankful for the work you do and the care you show your students.
