Friendly competition between DeKalb and Carroll (my high school) show choirs was the best. So sad to see DeKalb go in this direction. Best wishes!

Kent and Shelley devoted their time and energy not only to DeKalb’s musical program, but were always willing to help in area events. No matter what happens, things will never be the same.

So sad that school systems can just decide to cut out a vital program for their students. So sad. So ashamed of their Administration and a school board that would allow this

Communities need more people like the Johnsons, and fewer people who want to shutter the arts.

The show choir is pure talent and brings home numerous trophies every year. I don't remember the last time the football team won more than a few times the entire season. Shelley and Kent deserve respect.

It may have been nearly 20 years since Shelley Johnson was my teacher/choir director, but I am truly saddened that a fantastic teacher will no longer be apart of the DeKalb High School team. I hope that Kent and Shelley are successful in what they strive to do in the future.

After 34 years of dedication to the children of their community, the least that Kent and Shelley Johnson deserve is the ability to leave the program they've given their lives to on their own terms and on their own time. There are no words to describe the affect that they have had on so many lives and during this time it's important that we stand up and express the disappointment of the school board regarding this decision. Kent and Shelley are worthy of all the support we can give them now. Thanks Alex for putting this petition together.

I am completely appalled at the decision made. I was never in show choir but I can see the benefits from the program and the family bond created from it.

Love you Shelley and Kent. Thank you for helping to guide and mold my children into what they are today. Can’t even put into words how I truly feel about what is happening. Prayers headed your way.

Thank you for touching my son's life in such a profound way his senior year at Dekalb-2008. Joshua Delagrange is my treasure and I am so grateful how you worked with us to make his trip happen. Thank you!
