We need the funds

This an important effort and I hope the Committee is successful in obtaining the grant.

Sawgrass is a resident driven community with a long history of active particpation in various committees such as ponds. We have had several residents serve onnumerous Venice city advisory especially the environmental and city council. Water Quality has been the central focus in light of increasing red tide and the approval of a grant will provide a great incentive to continue the effort

Our Sawgrass community is proactive at taking action for identified concerns and the banks of Sump-4 are in need of repair. Water quality issues which affect our ponds will be improved and so will downstream waters flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. We hope you agree and support this need with monies by way of the Grant.

Sawgrass has immediate needs for additional funding to support several initiatives. The quality of ponds and preserves not only in Sawgrass is at issue but waterways -- Blackburn canal and Curry creek -- that flows through it to communities beyond its boundaries is a compelling reason to award us grant money. Grant money will definitely improve our environment as well as improve the environment downstream from us. Awarding Sawgrass grant money thus becomes a win-win selection for the county with benefits recognized within our neighborhood and the city of Venice as well.
