He did nothing wrong. This woman was criminally out of line and a danger to children.

unbelievable that she thinks the teacher’s at fault. She’d probably be the first to sue if her kid got hurt in a school parking lot, too!

This teacher was protecting the kids! There are rules for a reason lady! Just because ‘you’re late’ and you believe you’re entitled doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you want. This teacher was doing as he should and good for him for standing up to this parking lot bully!

We need more educators like Coach Young. He put the children first rather than this woman’s schedule and she should have done the same.

What a waste of time!! The woman was breaking the rules, what do you want the young man to do?? If he had not jumped on the hood, she'd of never stopped. What an entitled fool!

This teacher should be praised NOT disciplined.....your school needs to have a safer set up so people cannot do what Rita attempted to do....If she was late??? too bad her lack of preparation should not constitute an emergency for others

Teachers just can’t win. If a child gets hurt, we are liable. But when we do everything in our power to make sure that doesn’t happen, we are ignored, labeled as rude or too strict, or accused of “attacking” their parents.
Fort Bend Independent School District says they “do not condone using any physical means to stop a vehicle” at a school carline. Really? If a moving vehicle is endangering the lives of students? If the driver is attempting to take a child without authorization? If an unrecognized person shows up ignoring all traffic flow patterns?
I experience parents just like this on the daily. Parents who are on their phone, going the wrong way through a one-way carline, driving up on the sidewalk, or exceeding the speed limit to cut into the front of the line. My colleagues and I have been berated through car windows by strangers who show up to pick up a student and get upset when we tell them that we have to call the parent to verify that their child is allowed to go home with this person we’ve never met before. We have had to put our bodies between our students and an unsafe situation. Forgive us for not being diplomatic.
Listen, I’m not a perfect driver. I don’t always follow the road rules (I should). But Rita Trimmer-Ray ignored the school officials directing traffic and drove through cones, all in the wake of hundreds of children. Hal Bowman says it all: unless you’ve helped run a carline, you have no idea how chaotic it is to dismiss hundreds of kids in such a short window of time. There are serious safety concerns.
Aaron Morgan, good for you for putting yourself between your students and a potentially unsafe situation. Sorry you have to be the villain. Sorry you were suspended for doing the right thing. Sorry you don’t have enough blood in your body to pour out at their every demand.

The only teachable moment here is to Rita. I am impressed by this young mans actions and parents should be honored they have a teacher who would make such a sacrifice.

Rita was wrong. She willfully and knowingly ignored the traffic rules of both the elementary school and the high school, the first elementary school teacher who attempted to stop her with words and arms waving. The second teacher went one step further by climbing I to the hood of her car; however, even THAT did no stop her! She CONTINUED DRIVING!! Any concern over the actions of the PE teacher would be erased had a child been injured because of this woman’s lack of regard for rules that safeguard those children. Let common sense and a sense of relief that no one was injured drive the conversation forward.

I urge you to listen carefully to the demeanor, on Fox news its hard to see but we can hear Rita being annoyed at being stopped and breaking the rules. He was speaking calmly she was not. Please reconsider and look at who is really at fault.

Amen! This teacher is a hero in this self entitled, hypocritical world. She'd sing a different tune if her child was in elementary and in danger because some self-entitled parent "running late".

It is very important that teachers as authority figures be respected! If the teacher is not supported in standing up to the reckless outrageous mothers behavior then you are sending a message that the mothers disrespect is tolerated. She should be arrested and do community service.
