For anyone to think their time is more important than the safety of our children shows an infuriating lack of respect for authority and regulations. While perhaps not the best decision, I know as a fellow teacher that he did what he felt best in that moment to try to make sure his students were safe. No one person making it to a test on time is more important than the safety of our children. Not knowing who this woman was, not knowing her daughter was in fact a student at the loca high school, not knowing for certain they weren’t coming on to the campus to do harm to children and/or staff at this school.... When bad things happen, we honor our heroes. This school district needs to honor this teacher’s decision to protect his campus and create better security procedures and barriers to keep their kids AND teachers safe!

Teachers have now been trained to protect children from crazed shooters. If this disorganized, entitled, rule-breaking, better than everyone else who waits in line mom thinks we are scared of her, she's got another thing coming.

I’ve had a similar experience with parents in the bus lane. I was yelled and video taped by a woman driving in the clearly marked buses only lane. She couldn’t see me or my hand or the student crossing on the other side of me. I didn’t jump on her car but I’m front of it!

This is a man who truly put the children safety first over his. Teachers of the year. And employ an officer to control traffic not teacher.

As a teacher it is appalling to see such blatant disregard for the rules! How shameful that Rita would do this with her children in the car especially! Aaron did the right thing by stopping her from going through a restricted area! That was his job and he did it. We would do the same thing at our school!!! Kudos to him! He deserves to be RECOGNIZED for this, not punished!!!!

As a retired teacher, I believe this man did what we were taught to do, which is to protect the students. He would not had to jump on her car if she just stopped as he requested.
We are now a country which think we are entitled to change the rules. Just because no one was around did not give her the right to change the rule and enter because they were late. They should have left earlier and given themselves enough time in case traffic was heavy, etc.
Many are wanting teachers to have guns to protect the students. He was doing what I think was his job. He was there to see people did not enter that area.
I know some of my ex-students were impulsive and it could not be determined when they may dart away. If so, the child could have been hit.
I hope this man gets to keep his job. He has been very responsible. He is continuing to improve himself. He needs to be commended for watching out for the safety of children and that rules are enforced. If everyone thinks like she did, the school could have many making short cuts through the campus.

It certainly sounds to me as if this “entitled parent” may be the tail wagging the dog. I have done many years of morning & afternoon car duty & have encountered parents like this. I fortunately was never struck by the vehicle they drove but I have been bumped. Our school district backed their teachers on every occasion this happened. My very best wishes to this young man. May this not jade his decision in seeking his doctorate in education administration. We need these kind of people to carry on teaching in our public isd’s.

I stand with Coach Young. He did what was necessary to save potential ELEMENTARY kids from being hit by a mom who should have gotten her kid to school earlier to avoid this situation!
