We need to absolutely change this ineffective system. Another reason: it makes it impossible to use isotretinoin for men and post-menopausal women for off-label indications. This is a HUGE loss for many afflicted patients.

iPLEDGE has not decreased the number of pregnancies. It has caused more work for the doctors, staff, pharmacy and patients. I think that instead or protecting patients, it has made it less available to those in need of it.

iPledge is long-overdue for an overhaul, let's focus on what's important - NOT registering males/FNCBP or talking about depression.

I don't want to be confined to any mandate. I have successfully prescribed isotretinoin to women of child-bearing potential who could not take birth control for a variety of reasons. I use my best judgment in making those decisions with my patients. I do not want any blanket conditions that any woman or girl of child-bearing capability needs an implant or an IUD to receive the drug. I treat some girls that are 13 years old and are not sexually active. I firmly believe that with proper counseling of patient, the physician should be able to direct care without a federal watchdog.

1) Remove depression (no evidence) from package and forms; 2) Mandate IUD/Nexplanon for all women as the only acceptable forms of control; 3) Remove males from iPledge

I disagree. While males can't get pregnant, they can play an equally large part in causing birth defects and still need to be educated about it.
