If a lie is being told enough times it becomes someone's truth. Portland's council you were told a lie - don't make it your truth.

Take actions to support a two-state solution for the Palestinians and Israelis instead of undermining that effort with an ill-informed strategy that places blame on one side only to this historic and complex issue.

BDS is not a human rights movement, it is a movement designed to eliminate Israel. Shame on Portland HRC

What a hateful thing for otherwise nice people to do. This outrageous BDS proposal is outright anti-Semitism! If passed, this proposal will overshadow all that is good about Portland and label your community as racist bigots!

Boycotting businesses that support and do business with the only democratic country in the Middle East makes no sense. And boycotting businesses that are also allowing Palestinians to have decent good paying jobs certainly makes even less sense.

I am a former Portlander, and am outraged at this anti Israel and thinly veiled anti-Semitic hateful proposal. If Portland accepts this law - what will be next: "Kauft nicht bei Juden!" ("Don't buy from Jews!" The Nazi slogan my parents were subjected to.)?

BDS is anti Israel, and bullish at heart. It does not support peace, and discourages dialog. Do your research.

Many of The "end the occupation" people at the meeting were very disrespectful to the speakers who were providing testimony, but worse than that, I found that some members of the commission were acting arrogantly, petty, and some were quite condescending. One commissioner actually came up with the fabrication of "Islamophobia, while the word Islam or Muslim was never once utterered or even implied.
In fact, most of testimony that I heard was educational, balanced, and probably tilted to be in the spirit of fairness and coexistence.
Another member started emotionally discussing the needs of indigenous peoples, and without saying as much strongly implied that the HRC had to vote for this resolution because the rights of indigenous people were being abused (the Palestinians are indigenous and Israeli Jews are foreigners to Israel) - it was a very awkward, weird, and out of place statement.
Yet another commissioner, seemed to chastise all of us in attendance for not coming to other meetings not related to this issue.
And finally, one commissioner seemed to single out the two Jewish commissioners and publicly criticized them for not doing their homework. Are you kidding me? Every commissioner who voted for this proposal did not do their homework or it would not have even made it this far.
Its nice to know that our tax dollars are helping to promote bigotry, narrow-mindedness, and divisiveness in the City of Portland.

I wish to express my outrage that Portland HRC has voted to target Israel for discrimination. Are you not aware of what is going on in the world today? Islamists hate Jews and it sticks in their craw that Israel exists. They have been trying to get rid of Israel with wars, suicide bombings and now knife attacks. This BDS tactic is just another way that they are trying to isolate and eliminate Israel. To say that the only Jewish country in the world has no right to exist is anti-Semitic. Don't be fooled by the name "Jewish Voice for Peace". They are a sham. They are certainly not for peace, and as a Jew, I completely reject them and their misguided hatred.
I am a proud liberal. I believe in women's rights, LGBTQ rights, freedom of and from religion, free speech and the beauty of diversity. I am proud that Portland, where I was born and raised, is a liberal city that embraces and celebrates freedom and diversity. Israel also celebrates these same values. The people at the root of BDS do not share our values, yet they have somehow fooled you. Please reconsider after you review the facts of this situation.
