Since I was a kid, I have been captivated by the implications of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham's plot. How majestic it is to think that an ordinary girl can surpass the barriers of social stratification and end up marrying the richest, most handsome, most coveted man in the entire city (state/country/tbh let's be honest-world). This movie taught us that nothing, not even your own family, should stop you from being with the person you love. How progressive and beautiful.

However, for the past few years, something about this movie has been tugging at the back of my mind. Every time I watch it (which I assure you, is frequently), I can't help but feel sorry for Naina. She was the socialite Rahul was supposed to marry. She was faithful while Rahul was away at MBA school. She did everything she was supposed to, so why did she get robbed of her love?

Rahul falling in love with Anjali was a milestone for both my childhood and the Bollywood industry, but I think it's due time we know what happens to Naina after Rahul breaks her heart. Does she find love again? Does she pine for him for the rest of her life? Does she marry another socialite, but get whisked away back to memories of her youth?

WE NEED ANSWERS.

I'm hoping this petition reaches Karan Johar and the cast of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Perhaps Karan Johar can just answer our questions in an interview. Maybe the entire cast can reunite and create a short film. Either way, we loyal fans would be appreciative if someone filled us in on whatever happens to Naina Kapoor.
