The Rome City School District and Board of Education has made a huge mistake by laying of Keith Redhead, a ninth grade global history teacher at Rome Free Academy. Mr.Redhead is a kind, respectful, humble, humorous, caring, inspiring and intelligent individual who has done so much for his students and the community. I will be a sophomore in the fall, I have had many teachers and I have seen every kind of teacher and Mr.Redhead is the kind of teacher who every parent would want their child to have. He cares so much about all of his students. He's done so much for me, all of his other former students and the community; he deserves to keep his job as an educator in the Rome City School District.

Mr.Redhead makes learning fun and easier for all of his students. Not only did he teach his students about the Neolithic Revolution, The Mongols, and Martin Luther's 95 theses but he taught all of us life lessons that we will never forget. He taught us how to respect all life, to approach every situation with a positive attitude, and I believe that I speak for a lot of his students when I say that he is a confidence booster and a push. He pushes everybody to do their best and he will go out of his way to help any student. No matter how stubborn that person is or wheatear they want help or not, he will do whatever he can to help them out. Mr.Redhead will always make sure that every student in his class understands what he is teaching and he will adjust the way he teaches so everybody in the class understands. If he notices that a student is upset, he will try to cheer them up with his humor and/or talk to them after class. A lot of his students don't just see him as a teacher but also as a friend and a roll model. I have said more than once that if I were to become a teacher that I would be just like Mr.Redhead. I believe that ever child should have a teacher just like Mr.Redhead.
I'm going to be taking AP World History as a sophomore and I would've never excelled in history if Mr.Redhead wasn't my teacher. I have lived in Rome all my life and I have attended Rome schools since preschool. Out of all the teachers I have had, Mr.Redhead is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He has done so much for all of us students at RFA and he surely does deserve to have his job.
We need to have Mr.Redhead has an educator in the Rome City School District, he has inspired so many students and he is the best at what he does. "I love him! He is truly a great inspiration, he made my freshman year the best" said soon to be junior, Miranda Smith. "Mr.Redhead really is by far on of the best teachers and he defiantly deserves his job" said RFA student Tiana Simon. If somebody were to ask all of his students their honest opinions of him, you would not hear a single negative comment. There is, and never will be, a teacher like him and again and we need to keep him at RFA because he deserves to keep his job, he is a true inspiration to all of his students and we need him.
Mr.Redhead got laid off due to budget cuts but the Superintendent, Jeff Simons, got a raise. It's not fair that the best educator in the city gets laid off and is left with no money because of "budget cuts" but the superintendent gets a raise. I am not trying to be rude or anything but I just feel that it is unfair to not only Mr.Redhead, but for all of the upcoming freshmen who will not get the chance to be taught by such a great teacher who never deserved to lose his job. I hope that the board of education will see this and Mr.Redhead's letter to the editor and realize the mistake that they made and make some changes.
