I'm an inactive registrant and I think to maintain that, 800$ is a bit excessive.

Agree with all concerns raised - the high fees are unjustified, unsustainable and will drive many ND's out of the profession. Fees should be lowered if CONO has hopes for a prosperous future.

Incredibly high fees for new NDs in practice.

I know that it seems to just be a matter of ND's complaining about higher fees; I mean, who wants to pay more for anything? But it's so much more than that. The increase in fees will drive even more Ontario NDs to quit the profession or leave the province. I am in my 5th year of practice and know equally as many NDs who have left practice as I do who are still in practice because of the extreme overhead costs of business, and the massive debt accrued to achieve the title. I agree with the previous comment about low income patients. A large percentage of my practice is low income and discounted rates. It does not serve the public interest for me to be unable to service these groups in order to focus my time on people who can afford to pay full fees. A sliding scale based on income would make much more sense. Even monthly payments so we don't have to come up with a huge lump sum right before tax season, and right before our insurance also comes due. I'm fortunate enough that I can afford to take the hit of these fees, but I'm tired of watching talented and established NDs as well as new budding ones leave the profession because of financial concerns. Something has got to give!

If our fees increase...our rates must increase to make ends meet..that's business...but it could be interpreted as excluding access to care for the less priveleged and/or taking advantage of and draining the bank accounts of people who are vulnerable and desperate. Unfair fees raised in unreasonable increments do not fit CONO mandate of protecting public safety. These fees are not fair or sustainable for new ND's, part-time ND's, inactive ND's or NDs serving the underprivileged population.

Inactive fees are also extremely high. Active fees with BDDT-N while practising were $900. Inactive fees with CONO are $850. If you're not practising (=no income), how are you supposed to pay such fees?

This will likely be my last year maintaining my ND license. It has become a VERY expensive hobby so I will be changing careers. Another possible suggestion for fees is a geared to income fee schedule.
