Because of: 1- According to World Psychiatry Magazine February 2006, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that, in the situations of armed conflicts throughout the world, “10% of the people who experience traumatic events will have serious mental health problems and another 10% will develop behavior that will hinder their ability to function effectively. The most common conditions are depression, anxiety and psychosomatic problems such as insomnia, or back and stomach aches.” In a experiences related to war was positively correlated to PTSD symptoms. 2- Mental health problems in teens are real, painful and, left untreated, can have serious consequences. Research shows the is left untreated, mental health problems can become worse overt time, affecting a teen’s school performance, social and emotional life. 3- According to American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, teenagers may have the following disorders anxiety, alcohol and drugs abuse, manic depression, sexual abuse, learning disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, physical abuse, schizophrenia, anorexia, attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder, and many others. All of these are treatable if the teenagers get help. 4- Moreover according to the statistics of Educational Center for Research and Development 2007-2008, the percentage of educational delay in public schools in the secondary level is 44%. As to the percentage of repeaters is 40% in the intermediate level. Wherefore, we need counselors in our public high schools. So: Sign our petition to have counselors in schools and solve the problems to have a better society and healthy generations.
