Whereas, there was a 3rd lane added to Interstate 40 westbound up to Exit 196 around 1979 during which time we understand there was a noise study completed (but not confirmed) and

Whereas, Interstate 40 speeds increased from 55mph to 70 mph in 1995 and

Whereas, there was no subsequent noise study completed and

Whereas, there is a substantial 75 acre new commercial development directly across the interstate from our neighborhoods causing an exponential increase in reflected sound from those buildings and

Whereas, there has also been a substantial increase in traffic to new neighborhoods, a pending high school down the street, and to developing communities west of our exit and

Whereas, our homes are adjacent to and north of Interstate 40 just east of Exit 196

As a result, our families are unable to sit outside and hear one another, sleep undisturbed from the noise, or provide for quiet study opportunities for our children.

Therefore, we respectfully request a noise study and subsequent effective noise mitigation from two miles east of Exit 196 to Exit 196 on the north side of Interstate 40 only.
