I totally agree I'm a felon to a charge I didn't commit but because of the way the system works I spent 2yrs of my life in prison away from my daughter and family and I've now been home for 3yrs and I'm struggling to find somewhere that I can call my home

I was convicted in 2007 for child abandonment with the intent to return because I was leaving my oldest 3 children home alone so I could finish the last two hours of my work schedule. None of my children was taken by C. P. S. In fact the caseworker refused to press charges, however, the state of Texas picked it up. Here it is almost 7 years later and I still have trouble finding employment, and can't find an apartment in a decent neighborhood for my chidren. I have served my time, and paid my debt to society. Yet I and my girls are still being punished for not having the money nor the help that we needed. All I am asking is a fair chance to get back on my feet. I am currently working full time at a great job. I can well afford the required 3 times the rent that most apartments want, but as soon as they see I have a record I'm denied. This isn't fair for me or the other people in the same position that I find myself.
