Beautifully put, and I agree wholeheartedly. You have put to words why I never felt compelled to watch a WEI performance, it is how many pieces force me to extricate a vital part of my identity in favor of keeping mainstream feminism pleased. I hope change will come of this!

I completely agree and there has to be a change. Women of Color matter and existence is not enough. When the Connecticut College community and WE can understand that “our humanity is tied to theirs” we can truly make efforts to have a fulfilling college experience. A just and appropriate call for a programming initiative to unpack their implicit biases/prejudices present in their process and product. Well stated, Jada. Totally agree!
I advertised the WomXn of Color and Non-binary people of color painting I helped with last semester to the WomXn Empowerment Initiative and have not heard from them.
And personally, I never went to one either since I felt it was a culmination of white feminism, and I am sad to hear that my assumption was correct.

I fully support womxn of color at Connecticut College. It’s time they are acknowledged not only for diversity purposes but for they’re voices.

Jada your words are so power, and 100% accurate! One of the many reasons I have never wanted to be a part of it. Representation matters both on that stage and in the written pieces. Hopefully WEI will take into account everything that you have laid out, and think about what they can do to bring inclusivity into the show.
