The children in Chad are experiencing a hard time in their childhood, not a lot survived through the age of 5, due to very serious child mortality issue. Chad lies in north-central Africa, with the population of 12,488,200 in 495,755 square miles. The main child mortality problems that children faces in Chad is either poverty, health, education, freedom of opinions, child abuse, child marriage, child labor or child soldiers. People might not notice the children in Chad are facing such difficulties, and some doesn’t even know there is a place in the world called Chad. The realisation of Children’s Rights Index in Chad is in the worst status which is the black colour sign named “Very serious situation”.

According to the 2011 U.N. Human Development Index, Chad is the fifth-least developed country in the world and according to the world bank, Chad’s mortality rate is the highest in the whole world, and their under age 5 mortality rate is 150 children over 1000 children (150%). Majority of children in Chad are not respected by the adults, which this also greatly affects children’s childhood, putting have a large impact on their growth. I personally think it is very unfair, as some kids in other countries live in a comfortable place, eat healthy food, wear nice clothes and get to go to school and learn, while the kids in Chad have to suffer from this situation, everyday thinking about whether they can survive through their age of five or not.

The most serious cause from all of the above is the health, and so we hoped to focus on this aspect. Children are mainly killed by Pneumonia, Diarrhea, premature birth, neonatal infection, Malaria and lack of oxygen at birth. The solutions towards this problem is to: Improve the nutritional status of children, by offering enough healthy foods for them to consume; To improve maternal health, by supplying appropriate drugs to them immediately when they are sick; Reducing the impact of HIV, Malaria and other serious diseases, by providing effective medical treatments to them; And to furnish safe water and sanitation.

Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world but not a lot of people realised that, and I want everyone to know the situation of the children in Chad, especially the seriousness of the mortality rate of children is very high, so that people can help in various ways, such as education, financial, health and etc. Through promotion on the internet and television, charities, and volunteering. I really hope to raise the awareness so that the child mortality rate in Chad can be lowered, and that can indirectly improve their health and living qualities. We would like to let all people in the world, especially children and teenagers in developed countries, to realise people of the same age with them where in part of the world live a difficult life.

We need to support the children in Chad by asking people to sign for this petition, and to help by letting the public know about the situation and the existence of these poor children, we also need to point out their high mortality rate and the reasons. The main solution to reduce the child mortality rate in Chad is to improve their health care especially the malnutrition problem, since it is very severe. From gathering up all the signatures, we hope the local government can help by providing better healthcare and promote the idea of a healthy diet to the parents of the children.

I am going to deliver this petition to the World Bank, World Health Organisation and the Government of Chad in the 1st of January 2015, with enough time of approximately 2 and a half month to collect signatures from people for this petition. If we don’t act now, the more we wait, the more children will be killed. Just simply put down a signature, and you can save a small life, their future is in your hand, act now and please support the children in Chad!
