The ZIlker Vision Plan proposes to give unspecified control of Zilker Park to an unnamed "Umbrella Non-Profit." Sign this petition to tell the Austin City Council and The Austin Parks and Recreation Department that you are AGAINST a non-profit operating and making decisions about our Zilker. This is YOUR park, the people's park, the jewel of Austin. Zilker is slipping out of our hands right before our eyes. We have to do something before it is too late. It will no longer be the park you grew up with but instead, if they have their way, it will be transformed into a cash cow for themselves. The train was given to the Austin Parks Foundation which owns ACL and it is still not operational after two years. The yet to be identified, non-profit, is jockeying for position to control different areas in the park and open new concessions at their sole discretion without opening it up to public bidding. This Vision Plan is the Trojan Horse for this "non-profit" and the park will be redesigned not for you or your family, but for the power players behind it all. This has to stop now. Tell your City Council to take the non-profit off of the Vision Plan and kick it out of OUR park.
