The student body knows the story,

President Simon Newman speaks an "unfortunate metaphor" and received no repercussions for his actions. Many people and parents of freshman that have applied to The Mount have voiced their concerns: "how is this president still there?" "He isn't embracing the catholic faith at all" and the worst of all: "I am worried about sending my daughter here next year."

Yet instead of apologizing for his previous metaphor, he fires staff in a backlash that swept the nation.

Meanwhile, Newman sees that firing staff for "disloyalty", which in turn means opposing his views on the retention plan, is wrong he plans to reinstate them. These professors were reported to say that they will not come back unless Newman resigns.

I am here to tell you that we, the student stand with you!

As part of the student body, I have the right to speak my opinion, I do not speak for the whole. But Newman hasn't even been at The Mount for a year and he has only caused what he refers to as "collateral damage". How can one morally stand behind someone who "unfortunately" threatens freshmen? Freshman on your own university, and even future freshman.

The faculty recently voted an 87-3 vote in favor of Newman resigning by 9am on Monday February 15th.

For future Mounties: the faculty & alumni care about you and your education. We, the student body care about you and your education.

The date for incoming freshman to choose The Mount is quickly approaching. If Newman keeps on the track he is now, he won't have many freshman to cull.

Stop Newman now before he causes more collateral damage.
