I would have expected professors to share some compassion with the current state of the country but from the beginning this professor started our class out by yelling at us and refusing to answer people’s questions. It’s very discouraging to wish to continue and succeed in school during a pandemic and trying to adapt to keep up while our professors are not putting in the same effort. Everyone is affected and we’re all trying to keep up but it isn’t possible with a professor who does not care for us.

Hi, I am in this class and completely agree. He has absolutely not taught us anything and we have no idea what is going on in this class. I could not tell you one thing I have learned and I know I would do badly on the test. I am concerned for my grade and everyone in this class.

I can not keep up and follow this professors teaching style. The chapters and concepts are rushed and the professor does not provide explanations for new material.

I stand with everything that has been said. 3 weeks have passed and we haven’t learned anything in this class besides his life.

This is my Junior year here at CSUN. As you can assume from my grades the past two years, I take my academics seriously and I strive to do my best. Currently in my SOM class with Dr. Yao, I feel as though I have been put at a severe disadvantage when it comes to doing well. Not only is his class difficult and not well explained whatsoever, to make matters worse, he has made our tests increasingly difficult from the exams of the past years he has taught. By cutting the time of his exams even shorter and not even letting us go back in the test to past questions makes it so that we are dealing with immense pressure on every single question. His explanation for this is to combat cheating, however, he has made such a large attempt to fight against cheaters, he has seemed to punish the large fragment of the class that is honest and wants to do well. I do not agree with being punished for something someone did semesters ago, and making this class unnecessarily difficult on students is absurd when we have to teach ourselves everything about the class anyway. I don’t even feel safe asking questions in his class without being yelled at. His Rate my Professor scores do not lie and I feel upset that there have been complaints about him for years, yet nothing has been done. I want to expect more out of my Beloved CSUN.

Completely agree. I'm extremely lost in this class despite paying attention to his lectures.
