We demand the resignation of Senator Lynn Beyak and issuance of a formal apology.

The kind and well intentioned men and women did not feel it necessary to stop the consistent rape of children under their care. Nor did they intervene when childrens' mouths were washed out with soap for speaking their language..or had all of their hair cut off so they looked less Indian. Her comments were insensitive and amazingly hurtful and stupid. She does not have a right to be on the dole for such comments.

This needs to end

A national embarassment of racism in the halls of power. Don't look down on the USA when we have appointees like Beyak.

This woman clearly has no clue what has happened to RS children, now who now trying to find themselves as broken, dying adults. Clearly, she is one of the privileged people who have no clue about teal life and the challenges that come with. Like a forever- blonde moment !!!!

It is so important to understand truths about our history. We can no longer sweep them under the table! Residential schools happened and so we all suffer.

Get real. We whites have systematically abused First Nations for 300 years and you want to talk about taxes?

Senator Beyak must resign. Her continuing remarks on the issues of residential schools and her proposed audit of First Nations projects are insulting, unwarranted and out of touch. Unbecoming of the Canadian Senate.

She is ignorant, not willing to learn, she should leave! Why are my tax dollars going into this uninformed Senators pocket?!

She may not carry the attitude her words did, but as a leader of this country you have to be aware of the weight of your words and how they affect people. She has clearly not read any books or stories of survivors and has no authority to be commenting on 'positive' experiences.

Holding a position of power like a Senate seat demands the mental flexibility to consider new information, including views that disagree with your own. It also demands that you consider the well-being of the people of your nation. Those two factors should be more than enough for Beyak to change her perspective, and her refusal to do so is atrocious. She brings shame to this country by continually defending an inhumane practice and dark stain on Canada's past, old and recent. She is wholly unsuited to her position, and should be removed.

Get her gone. Beyak type of racism has no place in our senate.

I read her speech and found it appalling. She has clearly not read Tomson Highway and should be ashamed to invoke his name in this matter. She is not qualified for her position.

You can not justify her words and irresponsibility to this sensitive matter.

Our country does not support this oppressive worldview. If you think Indian Residential Schools helped anyone, you never knew anything about them to begin with. Talk to survivors to hear the truth. This woman is an embarrassment to our nation. If you want an example of ethnocentrism, she's it.
