We demand the resignation of Senator Lynn Beyak and issuance of a formal apology.

A Harper appointment can only mean that once again the damage done to our aboriginal people's children should be white washed (sorry about the pun) and shoved back into oblivion!

I feel that her comments are very damaging to first nation people and detrimental to the truth and reconcilliation movement in Canada and therefore, should not be allowed to continue as a senator.

This is beyond ridiculous. Senator Beyak reflects poorly on Canadians and shames the Senate at a time when its value is being debated. She needs to resign.

This sort of disregard for other humans should never be tolerated in public office.

This woman has no place on a committee having anything to do with the first people of this country. Her perspective is that if the colonizer. Her idea of success is a child ripped from their home and culture, and fully assimilated to the non native ways. She brings shame to the senate, and the country.

Is this the norm now? For a leader to be so out of touch with the realities of who she represents is beyond belief. I'm starting to wonder who's paying her to do this.

In our way of life there's a belief that everyone and everything is a teacher, this woman is showing Canada of its deep ignorance and how high in government structures this ignorance goes. Many Canadians have much to learn about compassion, empathy and respect.

Comments like this are thoughtless and ignorant. Would you say there were some sympathic, maybe even kind guards in Nazi death camps? I doubt it. Anyone who can make comments that strive to diminish the experience or impact of residential schools or who is ignorant enough to state they have suffered like FN does not deserve a role as a representative of Canada. My tax dollars would be better spent in other places. This woman does NOT have a place in our senate. She needs to go.

As someone who is aboriginal and works with residential school survivors, I am appalled at what had been said. This 'senator' and her 'views' represent the systemic racism that lives in our parliamentary houses. What she said about many of the descendants of teachers being in the house made me feel sick. Keeping a person like this in the Canadian government/ignoring their actions is not following the paths of reconciliation that I thought this government was interested in. The Anglican Church even agrees that these schools, generally, were not a good thing. Clearly this woman is racist and should not hold a position of power or a platform in which to spread hate. I call for her resignation and a formal apology to the survivors of the residential school system and the aboriginal community as a whole for her accusations of fraudulent spending and claims. Her denials of genocide are on par with a holocaust denier; she should be treated as such.

I believe that Senator Lynn Beyak needs to be asked to resign after her comments.

It's time for intelligence and empathy in our government. The future should hold no place for such outrageous ignorance.

Lynn Beyak's callous and insensitive comments shows a lack of empathy and also a lack of understanding of the depth of damage that has affected the aboriginal children. To minimize blatant child abuse/ destruction of their culture/sexual crimes perpetrated upon these children is unconscionable. She isn't appropriate for this position and should resign immediately. She has no understanding of the damage that has been caused, or how this affects generations of families. Shame on her.
