How is it acceptable that our lecturers have actually experienced a DECREASE in their wages despite working far more hours than they're contracted to? Show some solidarity!

Oh sure because they have chosen to have their pay cut. What a selfish ignorant moron you are.

I know that many staff share the view that this is unfair on their students. It is an action made all the more reprehensible for the fact that it is being taken without any general consultation of those it affects.

Give them what they want! Stop messing up our future! You are getting enough money from the poor students.

I'm a third year student but actually have the ability to critically evaluate the rights and wrongs of this action. The lecturers are totally and utterly justified in opposing further pay cuts (1% pay rise is in fact a further pay cut in real terms). It has reached this stage as the universities have refused to budge whatsoever. As students we should be supporting our lecturers/tutors and not playing into the hands of the faceless, heartless bureaucrats running the universities. What happened to the days of an active and engaged student movement that actually led change rather than resisted it? We are an embarassing shambles who seemingly can only get inspired to act when it is something that effects us. P.S The £9000 fees we pay don't actually quite cover the full costs of our tuition. Us 'home' students are subsidised by our international friends.

Seriously how are the lecturers messing up your future ? It's the government who have messed up your future. And management messing with yours and lecturers. Lecturers are on your side.
