We demand that Wirral Labour re-instate the full council tax pensioner discount immediately
Just a few weeks ago, the Labour administration of Wirral Council failed to move forward on a budget that would protect the council tax discount for all local pensioners.
Think about that — here’s something that most people on Wirral would support, and yet it’s somehow not an issue for the Labour Party, who were elected to represent all residents of Wirral. That’s truly horrible.
But frustration doesn’t get us anywhere if it doesn’t translate into taking action.
That’s why we launched a petition to show just how many local residents refuse to back down on this issue. Sign our petition today, and demand that Labour re-instate the pensioner discount.
The discount in Council Tax for people who have worked hard all their lives, and may now be on fixed incomes, or live in a home with high council tax, but limited money in the bank, is a vital help for many local pensioners.
By voting against keeping the pensioner discount, these 36 Labour councillors are basically telling you, your parents or your grand parents that they don’t deserve a little help at this time of life.
If you’re like us, and refuse to accept that this is something we can’t change, your signature belongs on this petition today, and send Labour a message by voting Conservative on May 22nd.
Sign the petition now to show your support for re-instating the full pensioner discount
