there is no need for halal certification. any food other than pork can be prayed over at the dinner table as they always used to do before halal certification. There needs to be freedom of choice for everyone . the certification pays fees to islamic bodies and not Australian taxes. he government is missing out on tax dollars.

Fair go. Consumers are being largely misled due unregulated product labelling.

Halal is the most barbaric method of killing animals. Animal rights and welfare is more important than religion. Halal killing supports terrorism! Halal must be banned!

Signed . Brilliant about time someone took up the plight of consumers not wanting halal and the lack of transparency .

In my religion it says in the gospels of Acts 15;29 in that it is forbidden for me to consume food from a ritually slaughtered animal sacrificed to another 'god' Please also see article 9/19 of the Freedom of religious conscience. We in any country where the majority is NOT of the Muslim Faith should NOT be sold halal cast off RS meat by stealth. UK is a multicultural country and many Faiths forbid halal meat. Allah is not the God of many Faiths for instance ..... Devout Christians, Sikhism, Hinduism,Buddism,Paganism to name but a few of the many in our society today. Why should we have to consume unlabelled cast off halal "HARAM" meat ? Our Faiths are just as imprtant to us as their Faith is to them and we should have the same respect shown to us. Muslims can eat any food and just bless it at the table to make it Halal just like we do when saying grace. Our Human Rights should apply................ http://ukhumanrightsblog.com/introduction/ . . http://ukhumanrightsblog.com/incorporated-rights/articles-index/article-9/

The Secret Sale of halal certified products and services to unsuspecting Non-muslims is a disgrace - I just hope that some people in positions of power will see this petition and persuade governments to make the selling of Halal & Haram more transparent so that people can at last make a reasoned choice when they go shopping or eat out. I do not want to fund terrorism through buying halal unwittingly. I have signed many, many petitions and campaigned to raise awareness about unlabelled halal. In a so called democratic country, where the majority of people are not Muslim, we shouldn't even be in the position where we have to campaign to prevent this from happening, especially when considering that to knowingly sell halal, other than for religious reasons is unlawful. But that is exactly what is happening. And yet still the powers that be are not listening, or doing anything to stop it, despite the petitions.
