I agree with this petition. I believe more consideration should have been made to include the parents. I am stressing how I’m going to keep my kids in this school if we are priced out. I am all for the evolution of creating a new school system, but this is rushed and will leave some families with little option but to withdraw their kids from our schools enriching environment. Our kids have been here since kindergarten and have a few more years left, this poorly designed plan will distract and disrupt a peaceful educational environment.

Yes!! The people who contrived this expensive and unnecessary idea are not representative of the wonderful, lengthy history of Catholicism in Great Falls. It’s a rich history of shared education, athletics and faith that should NOT be erased!! It has served us, lots and lots of us, extremely well. From all parts of the city, those of us fortunate to attend Great Falls Central Catholic High School, came together in one setting, where our similarities outweighed our parish loyalties. We didn’t all need one name (eg. Patrick) to unite us. Our education, athletics, faith, and experiences at GFCCHS united us! FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I can’t see how the proposed changes can hope succeed as well or better than that!! What’s the point? Please, spend the money the Patrick Plan would cost by supporting the needy of the world, as Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV encourage us to do. I could support that inclusiveness, rather than this unneccessary imposed attempt. JTEberle

My grandson was in the first graduating class at Central Catholic High School. I SO fondly remember HOW he led his class out of the auditorium on graduation day! About 6 months after graduation, he was killed in a car accident. I still poignantly remember going to Central Catholic High School to tell undergraduates that Keenen had been killed. As a grandmother, I would need a mental regrouping, so when I pray to Keenen and his grandfather, whom I hope both are in heaven, and that they both agree with the name change.

GFCCHS’s super athlete Bill Sprinkle’s son is now coaching at the Univ. of Washington — and his bio information always includes the story of Bill and GFCCHS. That proud history should continue!

As a graduate of our Lady of Lourdes and Central Catholic high school, I adamantly oppose this top down edict. Paternalism at its finest.

Dumbest thing I ever heard of. Meaningless. Enormous waste of time and money.

I do not think that costs and community were taken into account when this decision was made. This could prevent many people from seeking the education they would prefer for their children, and force them into the public schools that lack morals and ethics.

A 1968 graduate, based on the information in the article and this petition, I strongly feel that there is much to be lost and little, if anything of substance, to gained by proceeding with Bishop Fleming's endeavor. If the information is accurate, the financial ramifications, alone, are more than enough to upset the apple cart. Secondly, why the lack apparent lack of input from the "flock"? Did we learn nothing about the value of transparency and genuine communication from the leadership of our beloved Pope Francis? I urge all of us to stay informed, involved, and speaking up.

This shows bullying at the highest level. How is this an example to our children?

Instead of spending money on an unnecessary rebrand and new campus, the focus should first be on raising teacher pay and updating essential safety features in each school. The lack of open dialogue and transparency with the very families who support this community is disheartening. There are many ways this process could have been approached more respectfully and collaboratively. As it stands, these decisions feel shortsighted and fail to reflect the best interests of the students, families, and staff.

Taught at Central when it first opened for eight years. I like things the way they are now. I see no benefit to the proposed name change. Keep the tradition. Keep Central Central.

The school could had been called central academy and the mascots stayed the mustangs. Local parents should have more voice.

The public should have been informed. This is a large decision impacting generations of families.

No uniforms 5 days a week either! I want my kids able to show who they are and be able to make those simple choices daily
