I visited this beautiful island and I find it appalling that its people have such limited access to their own beaches.

Please keep this beach free. It is unfair to give the beaches to wealthy "snow birds" while locals can't enjoy their local beach, heritage and home. As a prospective tourist, I am much more interested in enjoying the local foods, people, and *visiting* - not colonizing - the land and nature that is the historical legacy of native Jamaicans. I do not want to support the destruction of Jamaicans' loss of livelihood, land, habitat, and quality of life. I am one of many socially minded travelers who will take our money elsewhere in protest of the privatization of public beaches.

This is sad. I cant think of any other free beaches in this area. Where are locals to go. There are enough beaches for tourist. The government should be ashamed of this move. It so narrow minded to focus on Tourism only.
