I believe the natural treasures of jamaica belong to the people, as a Jamaican living abroad I revisited Port Antonio in April 2014. I visited this particular beach with my young family and they enjoyed it so much we had to go everyday. We visited other beaches but they could not compare. If we keep on developing our natural resources what will be the attraction of the island. The natural beauty of the Island is the attraction in itself it will in turn attract tourism, which will develop the area. If you sell everything to foreign investors there will be nothing for the people. Jamaicans are renowned all over the world for their realism and integrity. It is important to look after our natural resources for our future generations, do they are also fulfilled with the experience we had. To develop the beach would be a bad decision on your part. Listen to the people who frequent these places and find a way to make public access to the beach beneficial for all....

I would not feel comfortable going back to Jamaica knowing the citizens could be opressed this way.

I visited Winnifred's Beach years ago and it never left my mind and my heart. we still have the photographs that we took, me on a swing and going on the boat to Blue Lagoon. My entire family was there. Some of my relatives from abroad remembered it as one of the loveliest places in Jamaica. i was hoping we could visit in the near future. What a shame that the Government intends to sell what was given as a gift to the people of Portland. Sell-out Govament!!

In which country do you hear that the Natives of the country is barred from using its natural resources, such as its beaches. The people of Jamaica deserve the right to have access to its resources. Only then will they feel a sense of belonging and the need to care for that which is theres. For two long Government have allowed large hoteliers to prevent the natives of the country from accessing the beaches. How do you explain to the people of a country that they have no right to its beaches. The beaches belong to the people and should never be sold. WINNIFRED is one of the Island's last remaining beaches. We must do everything in our powers to ensure that this remains so.

As a Native Jamaican we need to protect the beaches and make them accessible for all people.. That includes tourist and Indigenous Jamaican people..
