we actually did it and the parking rates are being rolled back. thank you for staying loud about this because it really paid off. keep an eye on things to make sure the university sticks to the new agreement.
Since August 10th, 2012, Wayne State University Administration has increased parking rates ranging from 18% all the way up to 333%. These increases disproportionately impact graduate employees, who make on average $17,409 in 2012. For some graduate employees, the increase in parking will cost them over 6% of their salary.
Compared to the percent of salary an Administrator pays to park, a graduate employee pays 871% more. We, the undersigned, ask Wayne State University to roll back these rate increases to their previous July, 2012 rate. We also ask that the Wayne State University Administration negotiate with the Graduate Employees' Organizing Committee over future parking rate increases.
This is honestly ridiculous. Grad students are barely scraping by as it is and paying more to park at a place where we work is a slap in the face.

WSU needs to stop treating grad workers like a piggy bank. 333% increase is insane.

Parking prices are already way too high for what we make. Fix this now.

PATHETIC. administrators making six figures while grad students pay a fortune just to get to their desks. GREEDY.
