I don't think the shelter should be near a childrens' facility. There are activities going on after the front desk is closed so anyone can walk in that shouldn't be there.

I don't think is a good idea to have a shelter next to any public facility with high traffic of children. There is an incident on Sept 19, 17 Tuesday at Minoru Arena, a homeless man stay in the girl's washroom for a period of time, staff can only ask him nicely to leave, by the time RCMP showed up he is long gone.

I totally don't think this location is adequate at all for homeless shelter near a high traffic area of children. If you don't build it nearby school, this should be the same.

I have young children and often walk my kids to their activities. I would be concerned for their safety and my safety should this new shelter move forward. I would probably reconsider their enrollment and look to another facility.

There must be a more suitable location that the city can put this shelter. We need to think of the children first!

This location is already being used by children, please find a more suitable location to help the homeless. This are is also in the middle of no where, why not find a location closer to amenities so more homeless people will have easier access.

As a parent im not comfortable that the city is putting homeless people next to our kids facilities. As we know , most of them are drug addicts. I wouldn't feel safe enough to leave my daughter at the facility. I'm sure drug paraphernalia would be everywhere just like
downtown Vancouver. Please consider to move them at other locations. I'm sure city of Richmond can find suitable place for the homeless.

I do not want the city of Richmond to build a homeless shelter next door to a facility for children and young adults. This is a serious concern and should be taken into consideration.

Objection to homeless shelter in adjacent to Wayland Sport. More suitable locations should be suggested.

Providing beds to the homeless is much needed however not in such close proximity to a children's gym. My toddler doesn't need to be exposed to mental illness and or substance abuse issues at this young age. Such expose will only cause fear and confusion. Find a more suitable area

Having a shelter so close to children, when there are various other viable options, should never have been considered. Disappointed in the City of Richmond.

This is very bad idea. Epidemiologically and criminologically this is unacceptable.

potentially unsafe environment for young children. High risk of drug and alcohol abuse . Relocate where children may not be exposed to such risks.

Please find a better location! Our children train for hours at a time at this gym. Homeless people are not criminals. That's not what we're saying. There are many challenges with mental illness and unfortunately this can be very scary for children to see if they are exposed to it unexpectedly. I deal with this first hand. There is a time and a place to educate our children about this, but not at their recreational fun activities. Please. Safety first.

I do not understand why the city would even think to put this next to a kids sports center...

Locating a homeless shelter right next door to a Children's activity/sports centre is just completely unsuitable. It's just wrong, it's like placing a shelter right next to an elementary school. There must be some other place that is more befitting.
