As a suburban teenager Wax Trax! was a formative destination and reason to go to Chicago instead of Milwaukee. This place opened a world for me.

Wax Trax was extremely influential to the development of both electronic and rock music. The main reason I started vacationing to Chicago several years ago is specifically to visit Wax Trax, Metro, and other landmarks important to the music scene.

Although I live in Denver where Wax Trax! began, their Chicago location has always been their heart and soul, and it's where their historical significance for their contribution to the music of the late 20th Century begins and continues. I cannot state the relevance of this location and its cultural and historical value enough. The building should be preserved as a landmark and celebrated by all of Chicago.

A monument to my youth and to who I’ve grown up to be! One of the few things worth preserving and few things I am proud of in Chicago.

As a teen in the '80s, I often drove from Waukegan just to go to Wax Trax! No one else had the record selection they did.
With a background in rock, rhythm and blues, punk, new wave, disco, and rap, I grew into an "Industrial" fan as the genre itself grew -- starting with Ministry and Divine.
The music Wax Trax! produced and their store gave me and countless others something new and very necessary to call our own.
Wax Trax! provided us with musical role models that inspired others to create music, dance, and express themselves -- not only in Chicago, but across the United States and the world.
They created a genre. Changed music history. What else do you need?
