While not a fan of a lot of industrial bands, I recognize the importance Wax Trax and how this building in particular played an imoirtant part in the history of Chicago's music scene and on music in general.

I was not a fan of most of the music they supported but loved the fact that they existed and would stop in to see what was new. They were a unique resource as were the Jazz Record Mart, Val's Halla, Rose's Records, Beverly Records, and Rolling Stone.

Wax Trax Records at 2449 N. Lincoln Avenue is the launch pad for the punk, industrial and dance music scenes in Chicago. This music and these scenes influenced popular music culture through to today and have created a catalog of music that has left an indelible legacy and brings fans from around the world to pay homage to where it all started. Like other Chicago music landmarks such as Chess Records and others, this should also be a official Chicago landmark.
