Wax Trax! was the main reason I visited Chicago almost once a month when I was a teenager. Wax Trax! provided us a place where music and art was celebrated, everyone was welcome, and a community that continues to grow to this day. I miss visiting this store more than words can say.

Wax Trax is/was an institution. A place where you could go and be you, no matter who you were. Yes, we should recognize those places where normal people go, but at the same time, we MUST recognize those places where the "others" go as well.

This building was a flagship for alternative culture before the term alternative came to mean anything culturally significant. This building is as important as Stonewall.
