I started going to Wax Trax! starting in 1990 and continued almost weekly until the day they closed.

40 years of music history. WaxTrax established and promoted a new genre and style of music. It’s as important as RCA, Sun Records, Motown all who believed in and produced forward thinking artists and musical style. All who, in spite of the shrugs of promoters and radios, cut grooves into top 40 mainstream music after having cut their teeth, playing to empty venues, not getting paid by venues and the constant changes in band members. Just as all the other production companies, due diligence and vision made WaxTrax records a formidable competitor in the music industry. Many of the bands still play to sold out arena shows, some have created spinoff bands while othered have produced and recorded soundtracks to movies.
To let this location lay waste to developers would be a travesty to the industry and all those who were faithful in the belief that there is room in the musical industry for change and appeal to new audiences who found a rhythm and comradely in an underground circle of the early rave scene and into radio airplay. To quote a line from a film “If uou build it they will come.
