I miss Wax Trax! Records. It was one of my favorite record stores. I bought many records there when I was a teen. I wish it was still around to visit! It’s where I bought my first Legendary Pink Dots Record. I remember buying a surprise batch of 7” records. Getting a Pigbag record and discovering them.

Wax Trax was THE coolest place to get the latest grooves and clothing! It was always exciting to go there and you’d never know who you might run into! Please give Wax Trax landmark status. It’s a profound part of our musical history and heritage!

I started going to the Wax Trax! store in 86 or 87 and it always heartens me to see the building relatively unchanged to this day. Wax Trax! and the Chicago industrial music scene completely changed my life and helped me become the person I am today. It opened my mind and helped me learn to respect other cultures, gender identities, ideologies, etc. I’d probably still be a sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic jerk if not for growing up in the Wax Trax! community. <3

Wax Trax! changed my life as a teenager growing up in the 1980s. The music and the scene it supported established my identity, created lifelong friendships, and has defined an era in time that deserves recognition. Please establish a landmark status to preserve this space in history for those to come and learn about how the past shapes the present.

This has been the home of some really important bands, and this was the place where they were heard! This location should be a landmark because of it's mark in the Chicago, and the world music scene.
