Re-open Watford's Wiggenhall Road
Starting on the 11th of January 2016 Wiggenhall road in Watford is closed for southbound traffic for 6 weeks. It has only been closed for 4 days but traffic in and around Watford is already unbearable.
A 15 minute journey across Watford is now taking an hour at minimum. Wiggenhall serves as a primary road leading out of Watford in the south and diversions cannot cope with the amount of traffic.
The road is closed due to gas works which are being carried out for the new housing development. It has been reported that Wiggenhall road could be kept fully open but the council does not want to because of costs.
Hertfordshire County Council is referring to the standstill traffic as simply congestion and is making no effort to solve the problem.
This petition calls for the action of Hertfordshire County Council, Watford Council and Mayor Dorothy Thornhill. It calls for them to re-open southbound traffic on Wiggenhall road to alleviate the severe traffic problems in Watford.
