The State Department of Transportation is looking to raise Waterbury Branch fares by 5% in order to meet cuts in funding of 19 million dollars in road and bridge programs and 18 million dollars of cuts in public transportation programs.

We the undersigned believe that based upon the lack of scheduling coupled with overall poor service and communication that the commuters of the Waterbury Branch feel that it is not reasonable to expect us to pay additional money to ride the line.

We respectfully request that the State Department of Transportation rescind their proposed fare hike and they should not be reintroduced until the PTC and passing sidings projects are complete and service has improved or all other avenues of potential income streams are exhausted.

Dear CDOT, Expanded service is long overdue on the Waterbury Line. We, as commuters, are doing the right thing by leaving our cars and using the rails. As we all know, the service runs once every two and half hours due to a lack of signalization, PTC, and passing sidings. I do not object to a fare increase but only after these improvements are implemented. Respectfully submitted, Roger Cirella

Yes, we have a very limited schedule on the line for obvious infrastructure reasons. If that limited schedule were reliable, I believe the climate would be different. Trains in poor condition and inadequate timely communication with riders are the current issues which need focus.

The limited service currently available (a train every two and half hours when commuting to GCT) is unacceptable and does not warrant a rate hike. Commuting times need to improve prior to any fare increase.

A fare hike is absolutely unsubstantiated and ridiculous! The service has always been and still is terrible! Try expanding the schedule and then maybe then it will be necessary!
