Water pollution is one of the most serious environmental problems. It occurswhen water is contaminated by such substances as human and animal wastes, toxic chemicals and oil and heat. Most of our oceans and rivers are gradually becoming polluted. Polluted water may look clean or dirty, but it contains germs, chemicals or other materials that can cause illness or death.
