Victoria has a range of amazing freshwater fisheries. You can target pretty much anything from Murray Cod at Lake Mulwala, Golden Perch at Lake Eppalock and Trout at Lauriston Reservoir. You can target Bass in East of the state and catfish west of the state. You even have mixed fisheries such as Lake Eildon which gets stocked with Murray Cod, Golden Perch and also both species of trout which are Rainbow and Brown Trout. The closest of the destinations menchened is Lauriston Reservoir which is about an hours drive down the Calder Hwy from Melbourne. Within the state of Victoria Melbourne has the biggest population. So what i propose is creating a couple good fisheries close to Melbourne that everyone can enjoy. Yes sure you have family fishing lakes here and there. But lets make a good fishery all of us can enjoy. You have the Yarra River running threw the Eastern Suburbs and also the Maribrynong River running through the Western Suburbs. You get the odd Murray Cod and Trout amongst all the Carp and Redfin in the Yarra River. You pretty much only get Carp, Redfin and Eels in the Maribrynong River. Both these rivers have excellent access so why not stock them in years to come. They both have flowing water and plenty of structure for the fish to hide and breed. A tad further out from the Maribrynong River you have the Weribee River that has Carp ,Redfin and Eels. This River also has excellent access. You also have some big impoundments that are close by that are a very poor fisheries such as Melton Reservoir and Pykes Creek Reservoir. Why dont we create something out of nothing here? Lets get a fishery close by where we can go after work for a fish. Somewhere parents can drop their kids off when they finish school. Having some good fishing destinations close by to Melbourne. Not only is this a good hobby for kids to start undertaking but it also gets them off the street. Teaching them the more important things in life.
