We oppose the shelter being put in this area. There are children taking school buses morning and afternoon right at the corners. We’re also concerned of the impact of the value of our real estate and businesses in the area. We believe a facility should be built for the homeless in an area where it would have less impact on the community.

My opposition to a homeless shelter @ this location is based on the fact that Washington St is a main access therofare into the City which clearly makes such a use inappropriate on a street of this nature. Being situated literally within a few feet of a residential neighborhood is also a valid reason to oppose a special permit for the homeless shelter at this location

No one is against the good work that those that CHHOP provide to the homeless community. The problem is that in their rush to find a suitable replacement for what they currently have, they made a decision I am sure in communication with City officials on their plan to move this shelter to one of the main gateways and major thoroughfares of the City of Peekskill. They have not thought of all of the consequences to their planned action, or looked outside of Peekskill for a more suitable location. City of Peekskill officials that are very closely involved with CHHOP board members need to take their responsibility to the whole of the Peekskill community and not their friends on the board of CHHOP.

An expanded homeless facility should not be in a residential area nor should it be bought without taxpayer input..

We do not need this near our homes.

I agree that a vacant firehouse or two would be better

Peekskill has become a repository for methadone clinics and homeless shelters. This has to stop. Why do affluent areas stay protected from this scourge?
