Posthumous Award of Military Cross to Walter Tull

My organisation totally supports this campaign and want recognistion for all his life-giving war efforts and also even more so as a Spurs supporter and born and bred in Tottenham - he needs to be recognised, remembered and posthumoustly awarded!

Walter Tull - a receiver of racism and abuse, but despite all this he became a forgotten hero. He didn't receive a military cross due to his skin color, something that we now see as extremely wrong. We must award the military cross here, not just because of the racism he received, but because of the acts he actually committed in battle - leading a force of men across a river to support the battle, and got them all back again, without a single casualty, despite heavy enemy fire. That, nowadays, would be enough to award a military cross- so why don't we?

Walter Tull is an amazing man. He was a very gifted sportsman. He was a very brave man who joined the British army to heroicly fight for his country in WWI. The only reason he never got the award he was recommended for was because the colour if his skin was not white. He was an extremely brave officer who died fighting for the UK.

A soldier is a soldier. Ethnicity is irrelevant

I served 14 years in the British army worked and faught alongside many brave soldiers that don't get the recognition they deserve let's hope this brave inspiring gentleman gets some recognition and I am a Newcastle United fan good to see Spurs do well

Having read Walters story I carry a constant shame on how this wonderful person was treated by someone who gave such much to so many - God bless him - and the government needs to action the wrong committed to Walter and make the posthumous award

This man was a pioneer of Englishness. No one makes me more proud to be British than Walter Tull. Courage, skill, leadership and honour. His lack of a Military Cross is nothing short of an insult.....if we are a just nation, this needs to be remedied.

It's a travesty this brave officer has not been awarded the military cross for his courage. there's an old saying among African American soldiers 'medal and stripes come easy for whites.' looks like a case study here in the British Army

It's a disgrace that this medal was not given to Ltnt. Walter Tull at the time he earned it and it should be awarded now, but as often is the case, it's too little too late.

There is no reason good enough to deny this remarkable man his richly deserved Military Cross. He was mentioned in citation has a brave and highly regarded officer who was sent out with his men to do an extremely dangerous job which was a complete success and was completed with out the loss of a single man. It would be a disgrace to continue to deny this remarkable man something his has earned by right.

I am very moved by the story of Tull's achievements and his courage. More than a century has passed since the end of WW1, every additional year adds more shame to those who should have done what was right and just, long ago.
