As Walmart Pharmacy Technicians, we want to do our job to the best of our ability. We come to work everyday and are proud to provide Walmart customers with great service regarding their health and wellness.

In our Pharmacy Department, we assist customers, answer calls, handle insurance billing, fill prescriptions, take care of inventory, stock shelves and make sure we run the Pharmacy department in the best way possible. To do this, we are all licensed with the mandatory requirements to fulfill all duties as Pharmacy Technicians.

We are writing today to address a change in Walmart policy that we feel is unnecessary, burdensome, and distracting from all that we need to get done each day.

Walmart has recently requested that all Pharmacy Technicians take the PTCB exam which is NOT a mandatory exam for licensed Pharmacy Technicians.

Today, we ask that Walmart NOT require Pharmacy Tech’s to take the PTCB exam, but have it remain optional, for the below reasons:

1. The PTCB exam is an option and not mandatory for Pharmacy Technicians since it is not required to perform all licensed Pharmacy Technician job duties.

2. Walmart does NOT cover the fee for this exam, which means Pharmacy Technicians pay out of pocket for this. We ask that Walmart cover the exam fee for Pharmacy Technicians that choose to take the test.

3. For the Pharmacy Technicians that choose to take the exam and do not pass, we request that Walmart does NOT demote them or give pay cuts as this test is not a required exam.

4. That Walmart provide all Pharmacy Tech’s interested in taking the PTCB exam the proper study materials and provide an on shift studying schedule while they are at work.

5. For all Pharmacy Tech’s that express an interest in taking the PTCB exam, provide a three month extension before taking the test allowing Pharmacy Technicians enough time to study and prepare.

We the Pharmacy Technicians would like a response within the next 5 business days.

We expect that there will be NO retaliation against anyone who has signed this letter.
